Ecklund to become pediatrician

Proctor Journal

Casie Ecklund, daughter of Scott and Judy Ecklund, Saginaw, is this week’s First National Bank of Proctor Academic All-Star.

Casie is a member of the National Honor Society, Link Crew, Student Council, Drama, Choir, Youth Group and Bible Study. She has been active in soccer and hockey.

Casie plans to attend Bethel University in St. Paul, majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in Spanish. She would eventually like to be a pediatrician in a children’s cancer ward.

Anatomy with Mr. Sorenson is Casie’s favorite class this school year. She enjoys Mr. Sorenson’s laid-back style of teaching, saying, “He understands the importance of laughter. I also find the way our bodies work fascinating! God is so amazing!”

Casie states that she has so many fun memories at PHS. A few include being on the championship Powderpuff team during her junior year, making the All-Conference first team in the Billy Moen Floor Hockey Tournament, scoring two baskets in Donkeyball last spring, and riding in the Homecoming parade with Reed Olson and chauffeur Ryan Rands.

Glen Sorenson, Anatomy instructor, writes, “Casie loves to learn. I have seen her eyes light up every time she learns something new, since she was in 7th grade. Casie’s talent, work ethic, and love of learning will allow her to follow many dreams. More important than her success in the classroom is the kindness and respect she shows others. Thanks for making my job easy and so rewarding, Casie.”

Her mother comments, “Casie, you made it look so easy, yet we know that wasn’t the case. But, along the way, you found where your strength lies. Keep your eyes on the Lord. I am honored to be your mom. Love ya.” Her father writes, “Casie, we are very proud of all your accomplishments. You are living proof that good things come to those who work hard. Keep up the good work! Love, Dad.”
