Book to be used to explain Bay View Forest
Bay View Elementary School’s “artist in residence” Jim Stahl will return next week with his new book, Wonder in the Woods.
Stahl, who wrote and illustrated the book, will introduce it to the staff. He will also conduct readings for the students in the Bay View School.
“I wrote the book because I believe many of today’s children have lost their sense of wonder,” Stahl said. “Children need to experience life first-hand. Wonder in the Woods will hopefully draw both children and adults off-trail once in a while and reveal the joy of simple discoveries.”
“While it is an imaginary story about what happens in the forest, we will use the book as a learning tool,” explained Bay View teacher Dale Kallio. “Students will learn why leaves change color and other unique things of nature.”
Stahl’s other illustrated books include Red and Tiny String of Pearls. He will be available to sell and autograph Wonder in the Woods. A portion of every sale goes to support Literacy, creativity and health programs for children.
