DECA, soccer define Lundeen's high school life

Proctor Journal

As a ninth grader Mallory Lundeen was captivated by the DECA program. So intrigued, this First National Bank of Proctor Academic All-Star stopped the DECA advisor Jay Belcastro in the hall to find out how she could get into the program. The following year she enrolled in his marketing class.

?When I first met Mallory in the hallways of PHS I knew she would be a great DECA student,? reported Belcastro. ?

He continued, ?Her most impressive accomplishment was her participation in DECA?s Creative Marketing Project, where she and her teammates evaluated the Proctor Public Schools problem with parents open enrolling their students out of the district. Her team placed first at the Minnesota State Career Development Conference. This enabled her team to compete in the International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Fla. placing their project 12th overall in the world.?

Mallory commented, ?DECA allows students to get involved in the community. It leads to great opportunities and expands what we learn in the classroom to the real world.?

She enjoys playing soccer. It is something she looks forward to each school year. She is this year?s soccer team captain.

Her plans are to attend St. Benedict?s College near St. Cloud, where she is considering either a major in Business or Medicine.

Mallory is a member of NHS, Student Council, is a Junior Rotarian, she?s also been listed in Who?s Who of High School Students, and she has been a Muscular Dystrophy camp counselor. She is also a member of Pike Lake Presbyterian Church.

Away from school Mallory enjoys playing piano, which she has been doing for almost 10 years. She also competed in dance competitions for eight of the 14 years that she has taken dance.

Parents Russ and Cindy Lundeen of Saginaw said of their daughter, ?Mallory, we love you and couldn?t be prouder. You will be successful in any and all that you do. You?ve been an awesome role model to all that know you. We have been truly blessed!?
