Krysten Heaslip on MSU swim team
This week’s First National Bank of Proctor Academic All Star Krysten Heaslip will attend Mankato State University, where she will be on their swim team. She plans to major in Dental Hygiene or Personal Fitness, with a minor in Nutrition.
Krysten has participated in Varsity swimming and Nordic skiing since 10th grade. She is also a member of the North Shore Swim Club at UMD.
Modern Novel instructed by Mr. Pothast is Krysten’s favorite class this school year because, “It was a smaller class and you got more involved in the class discussions and you learned more, and the people in the class made it a fun hour to go to and Mr. Pothast was a very good teacher and made the class interesting.”
Some of her many memorable moments at PHS include playing red rover for swimming dry land, making snow angels in ski practice, running around school with Laura Podgornik in skiing spandex on green and white day, and making some great friends and meeting new people.
Mrs. Steen, Art teacher, comments, “Krysten is a ray of sunshine each day. She possesses such a warm and generous personality. I know that she will make a difference in our world with her kindness and killer sense of humor. Krysten will do great things.”
Swimming, shopping, skiing, snowboarding, anything fun and exciting are Krysten’s special interests. She likes to dance and sing in the car.
Her parents are Jeff and Maddie Heaslip of Duluth. Her mom says, “I thank God everyday because he sent me you. Believe in yourself the way I believe in you. I love you.”
