Clinic building to be sold
While the SuperiorHealth Center in Proctor is in the process of being sold, services and hours are expected to expand according to an official with the organization.
“A community meeting is being organized for people to get answers to their questions and to give clinic officials insight into what services they would like us to provide,” stated Joyce Mireault, First Solutions Director of Marketing.
A&L Partnership is in negotiations with First Solutions, owners of the Proctor clinic. The Piedmont Clinic would also be sold. If all goes as expected, the clinics will move to the Lake Walk Professional Center in October.
“A&L would then lease back the space to SuperiorHealth. Space not used by SuperiorHealth would be leased to other health care services the community needs,” Mireault said.
Rumors about the clinic had been circulating throughout the community for the past week. It was a topic of discussion at cafes and at the the Chamber of Commerce meeting Tuesday.
City officials who knew about the change were mum and referred all questions to SuperiorHealth.
“For the last several years, we have been looking into family practice and primary care industries,” Mireault explained. “They have been one of those areas that have not been making it financially.”
“Proctor has more doctors and nurses than the demand. We want to fit the right care team to the needs of the community. As long as the community supports what is there, there will be a provider team,” she said.
The details of the makeup of the team may be decided Friday.
“People are frustrated with the health care industry. They don’t want to wait in the lobby forever and they want the doctor to take more time with them. For the past few years, we have been looking at a new care delivery model for the size of our business and the market we are in,” Mireault said.
“We want to be innovative in the way we provide care to people in the community. With the team approach, they will know you, they understand you, they can spend more time with you and you can get in when you want to get in. “
“We want the community to feel good about this and we want them to give us input on what services are missing and what they would like us to provide. We will be listening to them.”
“This sounds scary for those in the community, but this will be a better experience,” she predicted. “This is exciting and hopefully it will be a good experience for our patients.”
