Machine Tech favorite class for Mark Shatto
This week’s First National Bank of Proctor Academic All Star Mark Shatto is planning on completing his Machine Technology training at Lake Superior College after high school.
His favorite class this school year is Machine Tech, taught by Mr. Koppy.
“It’s my favorite because it is what I want to do for a living,” commented Mark. “Also, I like working in a shop. That’s why I took as many shop classes as I could at Proctor High School.”
Mr. Koppy remarked, “Mark has been a student with me for several years in Machine Technology. He works very hard in my class and is planning on going on to Machine Technology at Lake Superior College next year. I believe he will be very successful in his career.”
Mark is involved with his Church Youth Group. His most memorable moment was traveling to Bloomington to compete in machining and welding. “I had a blast,” he remarked. “We competed against different schools and got to meet other students interested in Machining.”
Mark’s special interests include playing bass guitar, hanging out in Cloquet with friends, air soft, and watching movies.
Betsy Allen, High school specialized teacher, states, “Mark has worked with me for four years. He has been successful in the Machine Technology Program which has led him to taking classes at Lake Superior College and working in a related job in the community. Mark has proven that hard work and perseverance pay off.”
Mark’s career plan is to stay at Northstar Aerospace where he is currently employed and work as a Machinist.
His guardians John and Tracy Gellatly of Duluth state, “Mark has worked very hard to overcome some challenges in his life and strives to succeed in high school, college and his job at Northstar Aerospace. We couldn’t be more proud of mark and all his well-deserved honors and accomplishments!”
