Coughlin to study pediatric medicine
This week’s First National Bank of Proctor Academic All-Star is Alicia Coughlin.
Alicia plans to attend the University of Minnesota Duluth and major in Pre-Medicine and Biochemistry. She would like to become a pediatrician or work in the pediatric field.
Alicia’s favorite class this year is Chemistry with Mr. Smith. She finds the class interesting and states that it has helped her with her decision to go into Biochemistry.
Coughlin is a member of NHS, Student Council, plays flute, and is involved in the Minnesota Ballet. She volunteers as a teacher/helper with the Creative Dance class for physically challenged children and is a teacher with the Nordic Spirit Youth Ski League. She enjoys ballet, pilates and being with her friends. She counts the fun times with her friends among her favorite high school memories.
Mr. Smith comments, “Alicia is the type of student for which I hope I am bringing enough to class. She is always right on top of all of her work. She helps to push me. Alicia is an exceptional student whose drive will get her as far as she wants to go.”
Alicia’s parents, Thomas and Renee Coughlin write, “It has been a blessing and a joy watching Alicia grow up. She is a hard-working, determined, sensitive and caring person. She has a great future ahead of her and we are sure she will accomplish all that she sets her mind to. We are so proud of her.”
