Music to fill stomachs
Proctor Band to help food shelf with Free Concert

Proctor Journal

At the Tuesday, March 31 Community Band Concert, donations will be collected for the Proctor Food Shelf. “Music fills the heart,” remarked Tracey Gibbens, band director. “Why not fill stomachs, too?”

The concert is free, but food donations are welcome. The downbeat will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Proctor High School Auditorium. The program will feature marches, movie music and classical pieces.

This March concert is being held in honor of Minnesota FoodShare Month. All donations will go to the Proctor Food Shelf. Especially welcome are canned goods, noodle mixes and peanut butter.

With the recession, food shelves are a growing need, especially for young families and senior citizens. The Proctor Food Shelf is no different.

“As a community band, we want to help out,” said Gibbens. “Most of us in the band have played here for years and feel strong ties to Proctor.”

The Proctor Food Shelf is located in the Life House on the corner of 2nd Street and 5th Avenue. Food shelf hours are 10-1 on Wednesdays.
