Brittany Bartlett accepted at UWS

Proctor Journal

This week’s First National Bank of Proctor Academic All Star Brittany Bartlett has been accepted at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

Brittany’s favorite class this school year is Early Childhood Infant and Toddler Development. “I like working with little kids,” she says, “and as part of that class I get to do my practicum in the kindergarten class at Bay View working with Mrs. Hieb.”

Elementary Education is Brittany’s planned Major area of study, with a Minor in Criminology. Her career plans are to get a degree in Elementary Education and someday teach preferably K-4 grade. She would also like to minor in Criminology, and maybe someday work teaching in corrections.

Mr. Hylla, Economics and Sociology teacher, remarks, “Brittany is a great student. She is one of those students who is a pleasure to teach because of her high interest level. When something sparks her interest, it is evident that she wants to learn more. Not only is she a great student, she is an outstanding individual. Her smile can light up a room.”

Brittany is active in her church youth group and has participated in two mission trips – first, to Belize, Central America and then to New Orleans.

She has played volleyball since 6th grade and was one of the captains this year. She also played basketball from 1st to 11th grades. She participates in a competitive volleyball league every Sunday night, and plays AYSA soccer in the summer.

Her most memorable moment at PHS was a trip with her American Justice class to the Northeast Regional Correction Center. “Without Mr. Rohweder knowing, my mom (who works there) had arranged for him to be cuffed and booked,” she remarks. “The class had a good laugh.”

Brittany likes hanging out with her family and friends, and traveling. She has 13 states left to go in her goal of visiting all 50 states.

Parents Don and Val Bartlett of Duluth say, “We aren’t biased at all, of course, but we think we have one of the nicest daughters in the whole world. Little kids flock to Britt, so we have no doubt she will make a wonderful elementary teacher. Her faith in God has shaped her into a very thoughtful and caring person. We couldn’t be more proud of her.”
