Languages top the list for Wass

Proctor Journal

This week’s First National Bank of Proctor Academic All-Star is Cassy Wass.

Her favorite class this school year is Spanish instructed by Anthony Menor.

Cassy remarks, “I love learning about languages and grammar, but Senor also teaches us about world cultures and history. It’s fun to be able to discuss such a wide variety of topics in one class.”

“Cassy is one of the brightest students I have had in a long time,” comments Tony Menor, Spanish IV teacher. “Her love of learning is evident in class every day. It is also obvious that her parents have instilled in her a strong sense of moral values. She is kind, thoughtful, and empathetic. She is one of the nicest kids I’ve ever met. If my children turn out like Cassy has I will consider myself a highly successful parent.”

Cassy plans to attend Bethel University in Minneapolis. Her major area of study will be Spanish and English, with a minor in ministry.

She is not sure what exactly her career will be, but she would like to have a job involving languages.

Cassy is a member of Rotary, National Honor Society, Band, HOPE, Drama, Spanish Club, and her Church Youth Group.

She loves reading, playing clarinet, singing, and just hanging out with friends.

Cassy’s most memorable moment as a PHS student is, “When my brother Jason tried to do a cartwheel at a formal assembly and fell off the stage.”

Cassy’s parents Joe Marie and Reuben Wass of Cloquet comment, “We are very proud of Cassy in her academic and personal accomplishments, and we are sure she will excel in whatever path she chooses. Cassy is a very kind and giving person, always thinking of others and helping them. We wish her all the best in her future! We love you, Cassy.”
