Northland Foundation Donates $5,000 to Haiti
The Northland Foundation has donated $5,000 to the Northland American Red
Cross in support of relief to the Haitian people.
“We know the people of northeastern Minnesota are compassionate and generous,
and we expect this $5,000 grant is just a small part of an outpouring of local
support to help ease the suffering in Haiti,” stated Erik Torch, Grant Program
Manager at the Northland Foundation.
With news of the terrible human toll caused by the recent earthquake in Haiti
mounting daily, the Foundation’s board of trustees and staff felt compelled to
override their standard grant-making process and timeline in order to make an
immediate contribution.
“Gifts in support of Red Cross relief in Haiti will make a huge difference in the lives
of victims who are struggling for the most basic human needs. This is a rapidly-
evolving situation and the Red Cross is working to respond with the most urgent
relief,” said Judy Hanne Gonzalez, Executive Director of Northland American Red
Cross.
Individuals, businesses, and foundations that, like the Northland Foundation, wish
to help those affected by the Haitian earthquake can make a donation locally to
Northland American Red Cross at 2524 Maple Grove Road, Duluth, MN 55811, by
