Downtown skating rink opens
Proctor now has an outdoor, downtown ice skating rink.
Located on the north side of the historic Mallet steam engine and next to the Gazebo along Hwy. 2, the rink opened in time for the holiday season. However, the Christmas snowstorm closed it.
A warming shed will soon be added.
The rink was considered a good location. It is next to the golf course, which doubles as a sliding hill in the winter.
It has been over 10 years since the City of Proctor had a downtown skating rink. Two rinks were once located where the Proctor Area Community Center now sits.
When the rinks were closed to make way for the Community Center, skating transferred to the Proctor Hockey Association’s rinks at the Fairgrounds.
