Curtis E. Anderson, Curtis E. Anderson, who was born in Midway Township and was a 1943 Proctor graduate, died Oct. 27, 2003, as a result of a traffic accident in Yuma, Ariz. He was 77.

He was born Jan. 31, 1926, to Peter and Olga (Ekeroth) Anderson. He attended Duluth Teacher?s College and UMD. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II, serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He married Mary Ann Olson on April 10, 1947. He lived in Midway Township, Eveleth, and Pike Lake. He worked as an environmental health specialist for the St. Louis County Health Department, retiring in 1983 as an Assistant Supervisor of the Environmental Health Division. He was a member of the Pike Lake Association, member of the National Environmental Health Association, and a member and past president of the Minnesota Environmental Health Association. He was a volunteer driver for the ?Meals in the Home? program. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He was a member and Past Master of Eveleth Lodge 239 AF&AM; Past Patron of Eveleth Chapter 214 and Trinity Chapter 242 O.E.S. in Duluth. He was a Past Grand Patron of the O.E.S. of Minnesota, a member of the Eveleth Commandry 35, the Virginia Royal Arch Masons Chapter 77; the Duluth AAD Temple Shrine and the Oddmen Unit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers.

Curt is survived by his wife Mary Ann, daughter Cathy (Roger) Dahl, son Michael (Debbie) Anderson, Sr., granddaughter Maggie Anderson, all of Duluth, grandson Michael (Carlie) Anderson, Jr., and two great-granddaughters Katy Ann and Erika Anderson, all of Proctor.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Sat., Nov. 15, 2003 at Bethany Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Masonic Services with O.E.S. services also Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. at Williams-Lobermeier-Andrews Funeral Home.

Jess Willard May, Jess Willard May of Bandon, Oregon, a former Bayview resident and who retired from DM&IR in Proctor, died Mon., Oct. 20, 2003, in Coos Bay, Ore. He was 86.

He was born May 26, 1917, in Nashwauk, Minn. He went to work on the DM&IR railroad when he was 18 and retired in 1978 after 43 years of service. Jess liked to play horseshoes, work crossword puzzles, compete in cribbage tournaments and gather agates on the beach at Bandon.

He is survived by his wife Patricia ?Pat? of Bandon, son David (Denise) of St. Paul, daughter Sandy Wilson of Portland, daughter-in-law June May, granddaughter Tammy Krawczeski of Nashville, Tenn., grandsons Dan May of Forest Lake, and Bruce Wilson of Oklahoma City, great-granddaughters Danielle, Brianna, Lindsey, all of Nashville, and Ashley of Forest Lake, great-grandson Joshua of Dallas, Tx., sisters Virginia (Wally) Johnson of Hermantown, Caroline (Steve) Rukavina of Fla., and Tillie (Wolfred) Mattson of Proctor, and good friends Rolly and Cathy Schmidt and Ron (who worked on the railroad with Jess) and Ardis Talbot of Duluth.

No services will be held. His ashes will be scattered over the South Jetty.

Florene G. Johnson, Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Fri.) for Florene G. Johnson of Proctor. She died Tues., Nov. 4, 2003, at St. Mary?s Medical Center. She was 74.

Florene was born May 23, 1929 in Wessington, SD to Raymond and Mary (Matthews) BonAmi. She graduated from Pipestone High School. On Feb. 1, 1949, she married Ivan K. Johnson in Pipestone. Florene was a member of the Proctor Moose, Proctor American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the Munger Grade School PTA.

Florene was preceded in death by her husband Ivan in 1982, her parents, brothers Albert and Francis ?Joe? BonAmi, and a sister Florence Ferguson.

She is survived by her sons Gary (Susan) of Saginaw, Steven (Dixie) of Munger and Rick (Sue) of Hermantown, daughters Barbara (John) Hussey of Alborn and Susan Johnson of Proctor, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and sister Irene (Glenn) Sutera of St. Louis Park.

The services will be at 11 a.m. at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service on Fri. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in St. Leo?s Cemetery in Pipestone on Sat.

Mary Jane Wilmot, Richard Wilmot of Duluth is saddened by the loss of his sister, Mary Jane Wilmot. She died Wed., Oct. 22, 2003, at the age of 84.

She was born in Duluth, and was a 1938 graduate of Denfeld High School. Mary attended Purdue University and the University of Indiana, where she received her associate degree in nursing. She lived in Indiana for 52 years and worked as an LPN and RN for 23 years. Mary returned to Duluth in 1995.

Survivors also include her sister Margaret Peacock of Duluth, another brother David (Lois) Wilmot of Mayer, Minn. and Mission, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.

Burial was in Oneota Cemetery.

Russell A. Milberger, Grace Wagner of Saginaw is saddened by the unexpected death of her brother, Russell A. Milberger. He died Nov. 2, 2003, in his Brookston home. He was 50.

He was born in Duluth and was employed by Diamond Brands in Cloquet for over 15 years.

He is survived by his wife Lynn, daughter Lyndsey, brother Richard (Mick) of Brookston, one other sister Kathy (Don) Wilton of Brookston, and many nieces and nephews.

Private interment will be at a later time.

Gerhart L. Erickson, Services were held for Gerhart L. Erickson. He died Wed., Oct. 29, 2003, at the age of 91.

He was born in Duluth, and attended the former Jackson School and survived the 1918 fire. He married Lucille Zwack on Nov. 8, 1941. Gerhart and Lucille lived in the Pike Lake area for many years. Upon retirement from the Northeast Regional Correction Center, they wintered in Tucson, Ariz.

He is survived by his wife Lucille of Proctor, son Laird (Barb) Erickson of Pike Lake, daughters Karen (John) Moran of Pike Lake and Kathy (Steve) Lusk of Brainerd, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A private interment was held at Sunrise Memorial Park.

Helen Hildegarde Petersen, Linda Hanson of Twig is mourning the death of her mother, Helen Hildegarde Petersen. She died Wed., July 17, 2003. She was 69.

She is also survived by three sons, two other daughters, two brothers, a sister, 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Interment at the Oneota Cemetery.
