Robert Carl Peterson, Former Proctor Police Officer Robert Carl Peterson died Fri., Aug. 16, 2002 in his Cloquet home. He was 69.

Bob was born in Duluth and attended Proctor Schools. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge from the service, he was employed as a policeman in Proctor and as a jailer for St. Louis Co. Bob was a deputy sheriff for St. Louis Co. and prior to retirement he was Lieutenant of traffic for St. Louis Co. He was active in law enforcement for 33 years. He was a member of St. Matthew?s Lutheran Church, Esko.

He is survived by his wife Barbara ?Betty?, sons Kenneth (Sharon) Peterson of Proctor, Ben Anderson of Cloquet and Thomas (Linda) Anderson of Cloquet, daughters Kathleen Holshouser of Esko and Paul (Joe) Mackai of Cloquet, a sister, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, two aunts, one uncle, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Interment was at St. Matthew?s Cemetery, Esko.

Creighton J. Koski, Former Proctor Dairy Queen owner, Pike Lake resident and community activist Creighton J. Koski died unexpectedly Tues., Aug. 13, 2002 of an aneurysm in Caldwell, Id. He was 60.

The Aurora, Colo. resident was born in Grand Rapids, Minn. He attended Virginia, Minn. public schools, Virginia Junior College and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from the Univ. of Minn., Duluth. He served as business manager of Bethany Children?s Home in Duluth, and as Executive Director of the United Developmental Achievement Center of Duluth Inc. (UDAC) for 15 years. He also served as president of the Minnesota Developmental Achievement Center Assn. and was appointed by Governor Wendell Anderson to the charter Minnesota Developmental Disabilities Council. He was the Director of Head Start for St. Louis, Lake and Cook counties with the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency in Virginia for nine years. He served as president of the Minnesota Head Start Assn. and was a member of the Region V National Head Start Board of Directors. He was awarded a Management Fellowship from Anderson Graduate School of UCLA, and completed several Master Guide and Williams Young sessions of Finance and Administration of Government and non-profit organizations. Creighton worked with the research Assessment Management Group of Silver Springs, Md. and completed federal program audits in nine states. He was appointed by Governor Arne Carlson to the Minnesota Early Childhood Care and Education Council. He was instrumental in the purchase and renovation of the Hermantown Family Resource Center. He served as Executive Director of Regional Hospice for Northwest Wis. and on the Ethics Committee of Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, Wis., as Administrative Planner with the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa in Bayfield and on the Economic Development group for Bayfield County, as Family Services Director of UCP of North Central Wis. in Wausau and as the Administrative Program Specialist of the Community Development Institute of Denver, Colo. He attended Pike Lake Presbyterian Church. He was chairman of the Canosia Planning and Zoning Ordinance Development group and the Canosia Township Board of Adjustment. Creighton was instrumental in the development of the Canosia recreation park and the Twig hockey facilities. He served as secretary and editor of the Skyline Rotary newsletter and served on the Proctor Schools PER Committee. He served as Vice President of the Duluth Amateur Hockey Association. He officiated and coached Pike Lake Little League baseball, Pike Lake Elementary basketball, was rink director of Twig Hockey Assn. and helped develop the Pike Lake/Caribou Lake Soccer Assn.

He is survived by his former wife Lynn L. Koski of Duluth, sons Matthew (Angie) and Michael, both of Duluth, three grandsons, two sisters, and four brothers.

Dennis A. Kent, Brenda Buus of Proctor is mourning the death of her father, Dennis A. Kent. He died Sat., Aug. 17, in Bayshore Health Center. He was 69.

The Piedmont Heights resident was born March 13, 1933 in Luverne, N.D. He grew up in and attended high school in Page, N.D., graduating in 1952. He served two years in the US Army. He married Barbara E. Port in 1955 in Page, N.D. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad in the Signal Department, from Page to Minot, N.D., to Grand Rapids, Minn., to Duluth, always moving because of his work. His last assignment was as a Signal Inspector for B.N.R.R. in the Duluth Area.

He was preceded in death by his son Daniel R. Kent, his parents, and two brothers Leslie and Ronald.

Dennis is also survived by his wife Barbara, son David (Cindy) of Duluth, a brother, four sisters, and three grandchildren.

Gene R. Look, Lynne Booker of Proctor and Connie Gustofson of Hermantown are saddened by the loss of their father, Gene R. Look. He died Sun., Aug. 18, 2002 in a Duluth hospital. He was 76.

He was born in Belle Plaine, Minn. and moved to Duluth in 1941. He was a WW II veteran, serving in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was recalled, and served off of the coasts of Japan and Korea from 1950 to 1952. He married Beverly Hoyum on June 18, 1949 in Duluth. He was a truck driver for Duluth Paper & Specialties Co. From 1952 to 1962 he worked full-time as a patrolman for Northern Pacific Railroad and part-time as a driver at the Lenroot Funeral Home. From 1970 until theyclosed in 1982 he was a truck driver for Famous Foods. For the past 18 years he was employed by the Hermantown Federal Credit Union. He was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church and the Salem Brotherhood. He was a member of the Euclid Chapter 198 the Aad Temple Shrine. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 346, the VFW Post 137, the West Duluth American Legion Post 71, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1302. He was a volunteer for the Hermantown Fire Dept.

Gene is also survived by his wife of 53 years Beverly, another daughter, a son, three sisters, a brother, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Burial was in Hermantown Cemetery.

Agnes (Aggie) Violet Youngdahl, Tracey Thudin is in bereavement following the death of her stepmother, Agnes (Aggie) Violet Youngdahl. She lost her battle with cancer Tues., Aug. 13, 2002 in Duluth. She was 67.

Agnes was born in Sandstone, Minn. She married Donald Youngdahl in 1974 and moved to Duluth in 1976. She worked at the Sandstone and Moose Lake Hospitals. She was accountant and bookkeeper for D & D Transport for 18 years, which she owned with her husband. She was involved with Riverview United Methodist Church and served as President of the Women?s Society.

Agnes is also survived by her husband Donald, three daughters, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, ten siblings, five other stepchildren, and fourteen step-grandchildren.

Burial was in Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors.
