Nancy (Voltzke) Konczak Epps, Nancy (Voltzke) Konczak Epps, was raised in Proctor and graduated from Proctor High School in 1959. She passed away at her home surrounded by loved ones Monday, July 28, 2008. She was 67.

She was born to Emil and Olive Voltzke in 1941 in Duluth. Nancy moved to Duluth, where she married and started her family, whom she loved unconditionally.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Epps; infant son, Dale Bernard in 1961; beloved grandson, Brian Erik Konczak in 2004; ex-husband, Bernard Konczak and step-daughter, Nancy Johanson.

Nancy will be missed by her three sons, Jim (Candace Thompson) Konczak, Jeff Konczak, Joe (Kristi Peterson) Konczak; two daughters, Jackie (Larry) Lane, Jennifer (Scott Vezina) Konczak; 11 grandchildren, Brandi Konczak, Mike Konczak, Jessica Oppel, Heather and Melissa Lane, Charlsie Thompson, Anthony Lintecum, Dale Rish, Kyle Peterson, Scott and Sierra Vezina; two great-grandchildren, Miranda Brouse and Erik Fowler; two sisters, Peggy Juran, Janis (Jim) Wiechert; many nieces and nephews and friends. A special Thank You to Janis Wiechert and St. Luke’s Hospice for their excellent care.

Memorial service: 2 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2008 in the Duluth Gospel Tabernacle, 1515 W Superior St., Duluth, MN. There will be a visitation two hours prior to services. Rev. Dean Bjorlin officiating. Services by Cremation Society of MN, (218) 624-5200.

Viola E. Dammer, Viola E. “Mumsey’’ Dammer, who was a member of the Munger Good Fellowship Club, died July 21, 2008 after a short battle with cancer. She was 88.

The Hermantown resident was born in Schafer, Minn. November 12, 1919 to Gus and Claire Carlson. Viola married Melvin in Bemidji, Minn. on January 3, 1940. Among the many joys in her life were her children and family members. She was a lifelong homemaker who enjoyed sewing, quilt-making, bowling, gardening, fishing, bingo, and taking care of her farm animals. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church of Hermantown, Esther Circle, TOPS, and Hermantown Seniors. Viola was an avid fan of sports, especially watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participating in their favorite sports. She also loved watching the Vikings and the Twins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 34 years, Melvin; sisters, June Shogren and Elaine Pelander; and brothers, LeRoy, Arvid and Kenneth.

Viola is survived by her children, Edward (Sandra), Evelyn (David) Halverson, Merlyn (Carol), Harvey (Lorene), Charlie (Kerry), Wesley (Cindy) and “my’’ Susie Dammer, all of Hermantown; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Johnstone of Duluth; brother, Roger Carlson of Park Rapids, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral service was held. Friday, July 25, 2008 in Salem Lutheran Church.

Dorothy Largent, Dorothy Fay Largent, who worked at the Proctor Federal Credit Union for 17 years, went to be with the Lord July 23, 2008 after a 15-year battle with cancer. She was 67.

The Duluth resident was born August 5, 1940 in Superior, WI to John, Sr. and Lorretta Fair. She was a Den mother in Cub Scouts. She enjoyed reading, crafting, and camping. Dorothy was a founding member of the Little Falls Alliance Church. She attended the Fond Du Lac Community Church for 12 years. Dorothy loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents and brother, John “Jack” Fair, Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Stanley Largent; children, Dean (Cindy), Scott (Colleen), Glen, and Sue (Ryan) Rengo; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeanne Hazuka, Laura (Clarence) Brown, and Shirley (Lee) Adams; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral service was held Wednesday July 30, 2008 at Fond Du Lac Community Church.
