Harry W. Seppanen, Jerry (Diane) Seppanen of Proctor is mourning the death of his father, Harry W. Seppanen. The 100-year-old Kettle River resident passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Villa Vista Nursing Home in Cromwell.

He was born Aug. 24, 1908 in Winton, Minn., to Frank and Dora (LaBree) Seppanen.

He worked as a dairy farmer and logger most of his life. Harry was also a milk hauler for the dairies. He loved polka dancing and gardening, especially growing potatoes and sunflowers. He was an avid fisherman.

Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie; five brothers, Frank, Ernest, Norman, John and James Seppanen; and two sisters, Hazel Miller and Dorothy Peterson.

He is survived by another son, Bob (Mamie) Seppanen of Cromwell and one daughter, Bernice (Edwin) Leino of Kettle River; one sister, Edith Hedin of Cromwell; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 11 in the Kettle River Senior Center. Inurnment will be at Leonard Cemetery.

Henry Nosek, Henry Nosek, who was born in Proctor, was a PHS graduate who won the Minnesota State Singles High School Tennis Championship in 1938. He passed away on June 7, 2009 at the age of 89.

He was born April 12, 1920, and lived in Hibbing and Minneapolis before retiring to San Diego. Hank was an avid tennis player throughout his life. After high school he attended the University of Minnesota. Nosek served as a Navy pilot in World War II, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross. He worked as a banker for First Bank Systems (now U.S. Bank) for many years. Hank enjoyed his volunteer work at the San Diego Air & Space Museum.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia.

He is survived by his son Steve (Rosie Wirth) Nosek and daughter Susan Lisowsky; grandchildren Megan (Jim Tucker) Rye, Ryan, Annie, Kelsey and Benjamin Nosek, Christine Goforth, Hannah Lisowsky, and Molly Lisowsky. Also surviving is his brother, Wally Nosek.

A memorial service will be held on Sun., June 28 at 3:30 p.m. at CPC Church, 6901 Normandale Rd, Edina, Minn.
