Robert H. Moore, Robert H. Moore of Proctor died Thursday, June 14, 2007 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was 71.
He was born January 21, 1936 in Duluth to William and Marguerite (Beauchamp) Moore. Bob married Marilyn Marciniak July 1, 2001 in Proctor. He served in the National Guard as a motor Sargent. Bob drove for Conoco for many years and also owned and operated a cleaning service. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sheri Gilbertson; sister, Yolande Kristiansen; and brother, Thomas.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sandy “Marilyn” Marciniak Moore; children, Julie, Bob, Linda, Karla, Sande, Robert, Mary, Cassie, Terri, Tony, Robyn, Tom, Mary, Ed, Ron and Mike; 28 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Bill and Mike Moore.
A memorial service was held Monday, June 18, 2007. Pastor Steve Weihsmann officiated.
Martin 'Marty' H. Larsen, Arthur (Kay) Larsen of Saginaw and Pedar (Sharon) Larsen of Twig are mourning the death of their brother, Martin 'Marty' H. Larsen. He died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. He was 75.
The Cromwell resident, formerly of Esko, was born Dec. 4, 1931 in Duluth to Martin E. and Christine (Mattsen) Larsen and served his country in the US Army. Marty was united in marriage to Donna Jorgenrud at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Twig on Sept. 25, 1954. He worked in the insurance business for many years and owned the Spirit Valley Agency in West Duluth. Marty graduated from UMD. He was a past president of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cloquet and served as a Sunday school teacher for 48 years. Marty was a Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 152 in Esko; a member of Euclid Masonic Lodge; the Scottish Rite; AAD Shrine Temple; a life member of the Sons of Norway; and a former member of the Cloquet Country Club. He was a pilot, a certified scuba diver, golfer and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and especially spending time at his cabin near Twig.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents.
He is also survived by his wife Donna; one son, Kurt (Thom Melcher) Larsen of Golden Valley, Minn.; two daughters, Kristi (Tim) Johnson of Esko and Kari (Tim) Parsons of Wyoming, Minn.; three grandchildren, Aaron Johnson, Emily Johnson and Nicole Parsons; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial visitation was held Monday, June 18, 2007 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Inurnment services were at Grand Lake Cemetery in Twig.
Nancy Arlene (Gemmill) Kmecik, James R. (Tammie) Kmecik of Proctor is mourning the death of his mother, Nancy Arlene (Gemmill) Kmecik. She died peacefully on June 13, 2007 in St. Mary’s Hospice Unit surrounded by her loving family. She was 64.
She was born August 6, 1942 to Robert and Nellie Gemmill in Superior, Wisconsin. Nancy was a life-long Superior resident. She graduated from Superior Central High School in 1960. She married Roland J. Kmecik, Jr. on June 22, 1963. Nancy lived in Floodwood, Minnesota for several years before returning to Superior. She worked as a customer service representative for SMDC for several years. Nancy was a member of United Presbyterian Church where she was very active, serving on their Session, Worship Committee, Memorial Committee and Sunday Dinner Committee. She was an avid bridge player, cooking and baking were her specialties and she left her specialness with everyone she touched, always helping those in need. Her son and his family were the joy of her life. Nancy will be missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and ex-husband.
Nancy is also survived by her grandchildren, Gary, Diana and Jade; sister, Barbara (Marshall) Bounting; mother-in-law, Bernice; sister-in-law, Jackie; and nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles and special friends.
A memorial service was held Monday, June 18, 2007 at United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Joel Huenemann officiating.
Lorraine B. (Huttunen) Aus, Shelley Aus, of Proctor, is mourning the death of her mother, Lorraine B. (Huttunen) Aus. She died Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Chris Jensen. She as 81.
The youngest of nine siblings, she was born February 11, 1926 to Peter and Mary Huttunen, in Makinen, Minn. She has now joined her beloved husband of 58 years, Alford, in the Kingdom of Heaven.
She is also survived by daughter, Brenda (Jim) Kilsdonk, of Duluth; sons, Guy (Lavinia), of Coon Rapids, Minn., Ron, of Columbia Heights, Minn., Rick (Linda), of Blaine, Minn., Gary (Lori) Aus, of Andover, Minn.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Rudy Huttunen; sister, Edith Hautaoja; many nephews and nieces.
A funeral service was held Monday, June 11, in Bell Brothers Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Oneota Cemetery.
Theodore (Ted) L. Hall, Marjorie Carlson Hall, who graduated from Proctor High School in 1953, is mourning the death of her husband, Theodore (Ted) L. Hall. He died unexpectedly on Mon., June 4, 2007, at United Hospital in St. Paul. He was 71.
Ted was born in Tower, MN, on December 24, 1935, to Theodore F. and Florence (Sjoberg) Hall. He graduated from Tower High School in 1953. He attended Ely Junior College and graduated from UMD in 1957. He married Marjorie on August 24, 1957. They moved to the Twin Cities, where Ted attended law school at the University of Minnesota and was a member of the Law Review.
Ted had many interests in life. He practiced law for forty-five years and taught law at the University of Idaho in Moscow, where he started the prison program between students at the University and prisoners at Boise State Penitentiary. For many years, he and his family spent their summers at Timberline Ranch in Vancouver, British Columbia, where Ted was able to use his love of the guitar and singing and writing gospel music. Ted was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Cloquet and was part of the Gospel Five Country/Blue Grass Band, and the Northern Bible Society of Duluth. He lived a life of faith in God and love for his family. He wrote many gospel songs, and one of his favorites was, “Can You Hear the Master’s Voice.” He recorded several albums with his wife, family, and others.
He is survived by his wife of almost fifty years Marjorie, and their children: daughter and son-in-law Holly and Chris Johnson of Duluth, and their boys Alex and Joe; son and daughter-in-law Ted and Lesa Hall of Atlanta, GA and their children Colby, Logan, and Keaton; daughter and son-in-law Sherry and Cory Zywicki of Saginaw and their children Jennifer (Nick Farrell), Felicia (Victor Quade), Coy, and Coleman; and daughter Becky (Zachary Dahl) of White Bear Lake and her children Brady, Madison, and Hunter. Ted is also survived by his sister Nancy Engel of Virginia, MN, and brother Bob (Gladys) Hall of Maplewood, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
Ted will be remembered by many for his gentle spirit and kind heart.
A memorial service was held at Grace Baptist Church in Cloquet on Wednesday.
Helene Lois 'Micki' (Buetow) Bolander, Ronald (Sharon) Buetow of Proctor is in bereavement following the death of his sister Helene Lois 'Micki' (Buetow) Bolander. She died on Sat., June 9, 2007, surrounded by loved ones. She was 68.
She was born on May 21, 1939 in Ellendale, N.D., to Walter and Esther Buetow. Micki worked at St. Luke's Hospital and retired as a bartender/waitress from Local 99.
She is preceded in death by her parents and stepdaughter, Patty Hanson.
Micki is also survived by her husband, Merlyn 'Pete' Bolander of Duluth; sons, Michael (Sherry) Buetow of Moose Lake and Daniel (Theresa) Buetow of Duluth;
brother, Ron and Sharon’s children, Jeff and Jodie; stepson, Brad (Peggy) Sager
of Duluth; grandchildren, Chance, Chelsea, Brittney, Chantel, Jordan, Hayley, Bryan, Autumn, J.P., Kelly, and Valerie; great-grandchildren, Lane, Bryce, and Tylor; and her dog, Chester. The family would like to thank her friends and the staff at St. Eligius Health Care Center for their kindness to Micki over the last four years.
Memorial service is at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2007 in Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4831 Grand Ave. with Pastor John Hanson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
