Arthur Allan Abrahamson, Arthur Allan Abrahamson of Munger, who drove school bus for the Proctor School District and was a former candidate for school board, passed away peacefully from a massive stroke Fri., Feb. 24, 2006 at St. Mary’s Hospice surrounded by his family and friends. He was 79.

He was born May 10, 1926 in Duluth to Arthur and Aili (Ahlgren) Abrahamson. Art was a graduate of Denfeld High School. After high school, Art served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for Pioneer Tea Co., American National Insurance, and the Duluth News Tribune. Art enjoyed spending his time gardening, he especially loved tending to his roses. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and a son, Glen (Abrahamson) Salem.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years Margaret, stepchildren Deric Absher, Dennette Absher and Dawn (Patrick) Walsh, his children Arthur Abrahamson, Colleen (Dave) Christianson and Carolee (Ray) Bertrand, sister Doris Olson, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service was held Monday with Pastor Daniel Holm officiating.

Jeannette D. (Strom) Scanlon, Jeannette D. (Strom) Scanlon of Proctor, who was a graduate of Proctor High School and retired as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Harold Platzer after 40 years of service, passed away Thurs., Feb. 23, 2006, at the Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 92.

She was born March 1, 1913, in Aneta, North Dakota to Albert and Christina Strom. On Sept. 23, 1940, she married William Scanlon. Jeannette was a longtime member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Proctor. She was active in the Proctor VFW. “Gram” enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and especially time at the cabin.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband William in 1964, sons William, Jr. in 2004 and Thomas on Feb. 6, 2006, her parents, brothers Milford, Clarence, Ernie, Ben, Roy, Harris, and Robert, and a sister Marlys Opien.

She is survived by her children Marsha Stiemke of Marinette, Wisc. and John (Janet) Scanlon of Saginaw, and grandchildren Steve Scanlon, Scott Scanlon, Mike Scanlon, Anne (Jimmy) Robinson, Josie Andrieko, Jodi (Jimmy) Kehtel, Todd Stiemke, Lesley (Daren) Detry, Jason Scanlon, and Jenny Scanlon, and great-grandchildren Justin, Jesse, Stephanie, Matthew, Mariah, Brody, Rayanna, Jonny, Ember, Dreya, Kamen, and Sydney.

The funeral service was Monday. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials to the American Disabled Veterans would be appreciated.

Rose Marie Patricia Baker, Rose Marie Patricia Baker, who operated a licensed foster home and served as a Proctor community softball and soccer coach, passed away Wed., Feb. 8, 2006 in Clearwater, Fla. She was 63.

She was born June 9, 1942 in Chicago, Ill., to John and Mary (Moscoves) Bonilla. Rose graduated from college at the age of 55 with a major in communications and a minor in computer science.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, sister Margaret, and brother John Caminitti.

She is survived by her son Robert Baker of Superior, daughters Christina (Hank) Mead and Cynthia Baker, both of Cloquet, brothers John (Dee) Bonilla, Tom (Janet) Bonilla, Paul (Mary) Bonilla, all of Ill., and David (Becky) Bonilla of Calif., a sister Claudia (Bill), six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Shirley M. Bordson, Shirley M. Bordson of Duluth died Wed., Feb. 22, 2006, at Viewcrest Health Center. She was 79.

She was born in Duluth on March 28, 1926 to Peter and Myrtle Armstrong Pederson. She was a graduate of Denfeld High School. Shirley married Raymond Bordson in 1949. She worked over 25 years as the concession crew manager at the DECC. Shirley was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was active in volleyball and bowling leagues, the Ensign Garden Club, and the PTA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Merlin and Johnny, and sister Elinor “Snookie”.

She is survived by sons Bill (Diane) of Duluth, Jim (Debby) of Proctor, and Rex (Lorna) of Hermantown, daughters Patty (Dan) Walters of Egan, Penny Hanson of Proctor, and Robin (Wade) Boyat of Hermantown, sister Peggy (Jim) Hill of Duluth, grandchildren Eric, Eron, Amy, Brent, Reid, Brooke, Lisa, Chad, Matt, Laura, Angie, Ben, Brian, Ashley, Casey and Beau, eight great-grandchildren, and many special nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service was Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church, Duluth. Burial at Oneota Cemetery.

Marlene Joyce Olson, Corrine Reppe of Proctor is saddened by the death of her niece Marlene Joyce Olson. The Downey, Calif. resident died on Sat., Jan. 28, 2006 at the age of 74.

Marlene was born on July 10, 1931 to Gunnar and Nathlie (Moren) Halverson in Hermantown. She graduated from Hermantown High School in 1949. She married William Olson of Duluth and moved to Downey. She worked for American Breakshoe Company in Calif., and eventually became the office manager. She ran a small doll and antique business in Bellflower, Calif.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Kenneth Halverson in 1987.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55-1/2 years William, son Mark, and grandsons Christopher and Matthew.

Memorial and burial services were held at Rose Hills, Calif.

Charles “Charly” Fredrick Pedersen, Charles “Charly” Fredrick Pedersen, formerly of Alborn and Twig, died Sat., Feb. 25, 2006 in his home. He was 88.

The Carlton resident was born May 9, 1917 in Duluth to Oliver and Dina (Dahl) Pedersen. After his father died, Charly went to live in Meadowlands for several years with his aunt and uncle, Jim and Alvina Johnson. He married Olga Ostman in Meadowlands on July 3, 1941. Charly was a Navy Veteran serving during World War II. He worked for Diamond Tool Company in Duluth for 39 years. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Culver, former member of Bethlehem Lutheran in Twig and Holy Cross Lutheran in Duluth. He was also a member of the VFW and DAV.

Charly was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Asa C. Reed, brothers John Pedersen and Richard Reed, and sister Anna Marie Lillo.

He is survived by his wife Olga of Carlton, daughter Judith (Ernest) Mattson of Duluth, sons Rodney (Janice) of Alborn and Darrell (Jennifer) of Baxter, sister Diane Hansen of Culver, sister-in-law Esther Barber of Proctor, aunt Evelyn Dahl of Carlton, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Military honors were accorded by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Entombment at Sunrise Memorial Park in Hermantown.

Ronald D. Scinocca, Ronald D. Scinocca of Pike Lake died Sun., Feb. 26, 2006 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 72.

Ron was born May 2, 1933 in Duluth to Dominic and Muriel (Hartop) Scinocca. He attended Central High School and at age 15 joined the Marines where he was a proud Lance Corporal with the ‘B’ Company, 4th Infantry Battalion during the Korean War. In 1952, Ron started working for Jeno Paulucci as a laborer at Chun King Corp. He worked his way up the corporate ladder to Assistant to the Chairman. He worked for Mr. Paulucci until his retirement in 1993. Ron was a member of the Trinity Lodge, Scottish Rite, Aad Temple, the Humane Society, Italian American Club, Owl’s Club, Marine Corps Association, a proud and active member of the Korean War Veterans Memorial Committee and was a life member the American Legion. Ron loved to work in his garage on antique vehicles. He loved teasing the girls at L.A.’s Café with his brother-in-law Bernie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James, son James, and his wife Carol Scinocca.

Ron is survived by his sons Ronald Jr., Steve and Michael Scinocca, daughter Shelly (Tim) Nick, and his cousin “more like a brother” Joe (Dolly) Scinocca, all of Duluth, grandchildren Joseph Nick and Katie Scinocca, several nieces, nephews and close friends, and his loving and faithful companion “Tinker”.

Services today, Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Burial with military honors accorded by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard at Calvary Cemetery.
